Support for Personal Body Analysis Scale ETA2779

GENERAL QUESTIONS

The application is designed for mobile phones with Android and iOS operating systems. It can also be used on tablets, although full compatibility is not guaranteed. To fully utilize all the app’s features and understand them correctly, we recommend reading the user manual carefully first.

1) Is the app for the scale free of charge?

Yes, the app is completely free and allows you to store your results on your app account, which remains available even after switching phones.

2) Do I need the app to measure my body metrics?

The answer is both yes and no…

  • Yes – because the ETA SMART app is an integral part of the scale. It receives analysis results from the scale and displays them on your smart device. At first glance, the scale seems like a regular weight scale, but combined with the app, it becomes a helpful tool for tracking and managing your body metrics.

  • No – because the scale has an internal memory that can store several measurements. This means you don’t need to have the app open for every measurement. Just sync the scale with the app from time to time to transfer the stored data. You can also use the scale as a standard weight scale without the app.

3) Which devices is the app compatible with (ANDROID / iOS)?

There are two identical versions of the app, each for a different operating system. One for Android and one for iOS (Apple).
Compatibility as of May 2025:

  • Android 8 and later

  • iOS 13.0 and later

4) Can I download the app on my computer?

The app is primarily designed for iOS and Android. However, Android emulators are available that allow apps to run on Windows or macOS computers. If you have sufficient technical skills, you may try using an emulator to install and use the app on your PC.

5) Do I need a QR code reader app to download the app via QR code?

QR codes are provided for easier installation for those who prefer this method. On some older phones, you might need to install a QR code reader (many free versions are available).
If using a QR code isn't possible for you, simply download the app through Google Play or App Store manually.

Newer phones typically support QR scanning directly via the camera app.

6) Can I use a “regular” mobile phone if I don’t have a smart device?

No, the app only works on smart devices. Traditional mobile phones are not compatible.

7) What do the body composition metrics mean?

Besides weight, the app displays many other body composition metrics. More information can be found in the app or on various health-related websites.

Please note that these values are for reference only and may not be as accurate as results from medical methods or professional high-end measuring devices.

8) Do I need to be barefoot to measure properly?

If possible – yes. In some cases, the scale can analyze even through thin socks (if the material is conductive enough), but for reliable analysis, barefoot use is strongly recommended.

9) Why does the scale show different results in different locations?

This is usually due to the surface type. If you weigh yourself on carpet or soft flooring (like vinyl), the results may be inaccurate.
Use the scale on a hard, flat surface, such as bathroom tiles, and ideally always in the same place.

10) Can I use rechargeable batteries in the scale?

No. Due to their lower voltage, rechargeable batteries are not recommended.

11) Does weighing after a shower with slightly wet feet affect accuracy?

If your feet are only slightly damp, the measurement should not be significantly affected. However, wet feet can influence the results, and we do not recommend weighing with wet feet.
For consistent results, we recommend weighing and analyzing your body at the same time of day, ideally in the morning about 15 minutes after waking up.

DEVICE PAIRING

12) How do I pair the mobile device with the scale?

You’ll need to have:

  • The scale near your smart device

  • The app running with Bluetooth enabled (and GPS enabled for newer Android versions)
Then follow the instructions in the app manual (see DOWNLOADS section).

13) What is the maximum distance between the phone and the scale during weighing?

Bluetooth range is up to 10 meters in open space without obstacles. In typical home conditions, anything between 20 cm and 2 meters should provide a stable connection.

14) How many smart devices can be paired with the scale?

The ETA SMART app allows sharing of paired devices with other users of the app – for example, family members can use the same scale. Follow the instructions in the app manual.

APP FEATURES

15) How many users can store results in a single app on one mobile device?

You can create up to 10 user profiles within one account.

16) How far back can the app store measurement history? Is it time-limited?

No, the measurement history is not time-limited.

17) Can I share my results with friends?

Yes, you can share a screenshot of your results directly via selected services or save it and use it later.

TROUBLESHOOTING

18) What should I do if the app won’t open?

Check your smart device’s internet connection and make sure it’s active.

19) What if I can’t pair my phone with the scale?

Try all troubleshooting tips from the user manual. A good first step is to replace the batteries and try pairing with a different smartphone.

20) The app shows only the weight but not other parameters.

This may happen if the scale is already paired but only sends weight data during measurement. This usually occurs when fat analysis fails.

Correct procedure and scale behavior:

  1. Open the app and ensure the device is paired

  2. Turn on the scale – don’t step on it immediately. Let it “zero” first, then step on it after a few seconds and wait for the analysis.

Possible causes:

  • You're not barefoot

  • Some smart devices take longer to maintain a connection – turn on the scale, let it calibrate, then step on the metal strips after a few seconds

  • Some people have reduced foot conductivity (due to dry/aged/dirty skin) – try measuring someone else

  • Make sure your feet are clean and slightly moist (use wet wipes if needed)

  • Check if the batteries are not weak

  • Ensure there are no interfering devices nearby (e.g. TV remotes)

  • Possible compatibility issue with your smart device

  • The person may fall outside normal BMI ranges (severely underweight or obese), or is an athlete whose body composition differs from the average population.

21) The app suddenly stopped responding, even though it worked before. How do I fix this?

This may be due to changes in your smart device (e.g., new app installations). Restart the app or your device, or try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

22) Who can I contact if the scale still doesn’t work correctly despite following all recommendations?

If neither this FAQ nor the app user manual answers your question and the problem persists, contact support via email at: apps@eta.cz.
