General Requirements
The app is intended for mobile phones with Android 8.0 or higher and iOS 11.0 or higher. To fully utilize all features of the app and understand them correctly, please carefully read the ETA SMART app user manual.
WiFi Network Requirements
- Only 2.4 GHz (with sufficient coverage of the vacuumed area)
- WPA1 and WPA2 security (WPA2 recommended)
- The vacuum cleaner can be paired with and used on only one Wi-Fi network (SSID) at a time
- If you are unsure whether your router meets the above requirements, please contact your network administrator
Can I use the vacuum without the app?
Yes. However, only in a mode that allows using just one cleaning type (automatic cleaning). To fully utilize its potential, we recommend using the vacuum cleaner together with the ETA SMART app.
Vacuum Pairing
For the first pairing of the robotic vacuum cleaner with a Wi-Fi network, use the ETA SMART APP USER MANUAL, which can be found in the "Downloads" section. Always follow the individual steps in the ETA SMART app.
Basic requirements:
-
Active home Wi-Fi network with a sufficiently strong signal;
-
Smart device with the ETA SMART app installed;
-
Sufficiently charged battery in the vacuum cleaner (at least 30%);
-
Turn on the vacuum cleaner, launch the app, create a user account following the instructions, and perform the pairing.
How can I contribute to successful pairing?
-
Use only smart devices with supported Android and iOS operating system versions.
-
Use a quality Wi-Fi router that securely covers your home with a sufficiently strong signal.
-
Keep your smart device close to the vacuum cleaner during pairing (within approx. 2 meters).
If you experience issues during pairing, focus on the following:
-
Check if the vacuum cleaner is within Wi-Fi signal range;
-
The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) should use characters a-z and 0-9 only (do not use diacritics or characters like "_, -, *, @, +, or spaces"). The same rules apply to the password;
-
If your router supports dual-band operation (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), we recommend disabling the 5 GHz network during pairing. The vacuum cleaner must be paired exclusively on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network;
-
Communication between the vacuum cleaner and phone may be disrupted by some apps on your phone (e.g., VPN, firewall). Disable these apps during pairing;
-
Ensure the vacuum cleaner’s battery is at least 30% charged;
-
Try pairing with another phone to exclude issues with the original phone;
-
Verify that your Wi-Fi network settings and smart device OS meet the specified requirements (see HERE);
-
Make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network to which you want to pair the vacuum cleaner (same SSID);
-
If possible, try restarting your Wi-Fi router.
Dual-band Wi-Fi network:
If your home has a smart Wi-Fi router that automatically switches the network frequency between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz under a single SSID, pairing problems or internet disconnections during operation may occur. If these issues happen, we recommend setting the router to broadcast two separate SSIDs—one for 2.4 GHz and one for 5 GHz—and pair the vacuum cleaner only on the 2.4 GHz network.
This setting is usually configured in the Wi-Fi router’s administration interface. If you cannot change this yourself, contact your network administrator or IT specialist.
To allow multiple users to control the vacuum cleaner, proceed as follows:
-
Each user must create their own account in the ETA SMART app;
-
The user who first pairs their phone with the vacuum cleaner is the administrator and can share the vacuum with other users;
-
The administrator has broader control rights over the vacuum cleaner than the users with whom the vacuum is shared.
Tips and Troubleshooting
Tips
Does the vacuum cleaner have a RESET function to resolve various issues?
Yes. To return to factory settings, press and hold the “Return to Dock” button (A7) for approximately 5 seconds. After hearing the sound signal, repeat this step (hold the button again for 5 seconds). This procedure may help resolve some general problems and errors.
Can individual defined zones overlap?
Yes.
Can the frequency of dirt suction into the extraction station be set on the ETA6239 model?
No, this function is passive and activates automatically whenever the vacuum cleans for at least a short time and then returns to the station. The app does not allow adjustment of this function’s parameters.
Initial map creation
During the first mapping, carefully observe the robot’s behavior and ensure all obstacles are removed (doors open, floor cleared, etc.). This helps avoid potential problems and errors in the created map.
Use the quick map creation function, where the vacuum does not clean but first scans the available area and then returns to the charging station. Afterward, it creates the map, divides it into individual rooms, and colors them distinctly.
Can I freely name a defined zone?
Yes, you can choose from some preset zone names or create your own.
Why does the map get deleted?
-
The vacuum did not start cleaning by leaving the charging station;
-
The environment around the charging station changed (e.g., charging station moved, furniture rearranged, crouching in front of the vacuum, placing a box, etc.).
Problems
If an error message appears in the app (the vacuum cleaner lights up red), check the indicated part of the vacuum and clean it according to the instructions in the user manual.
Possible error areas:
-
LIDAR (this is the laser module on the top of the vacuum). Under the cover, there is a module that must rotate freely in a 360° range. This part may have hair, fur, a leaf from a plant, etc. tangled around it. Make sure the part is free and not blocked by any object. Use tweezers for cleaning if necessary (LIDAR cannot be disassembled);
-
FAN (suction failure – service intervention required);
-
WHEELS (remove any tangled hair or fur that may block movement; if everything is clean and moves freely, service intervention may be needed);
-
BRUSHES (remove any tangled hair or fur that may block movement; if everything is clean and moves freely, service intervention may be needed);
-
ANTI-FALL SENSORS (clean the sensors; if the problem is not caused by dirt, the robot needs to be checked in service);
-
FRONT BUMPER (clean its sensors and test its mobility around the entire circumference – it should be able to be pressed in and not be blocked by any object. If it moves freely and evenly but the issue persists, contact service).
Confused vacuum movement
Do not place any stickers on the vacuum cleaner. Such stickers can negatively affect the LIDAR sensors.
The app freezes or “locks up”.
Restart the app and the robot. If this does not help, restart your smart device.
Vacuum movement in the app is “jerky” and has a long response time.
Check the strength and stability of your Wi-Fi signal. The vacuum may be cleaning in areas with insufficient Wi-Fi coverage.
The app does not respond despite previously working properly. How to solve this problem?
This situation is likely caused by some changes on your phone (e.g., installing new apps, system updates) or on the Wi-Fi network. If you cannot solve the problem by reversing changes on your phone or Wi-Fi network, uninstall and reinstall the ETA SMART app.
If all the above steps fail and you have ruled out issues with your phone and Wi-Fi network, please contact us at vysavace@eta.cz.
