General Requirements

The application is only intended for mobile phones with the operating system Android 8.0 and higher and IOS 11.0 and higher. It can also be used on tablets, but full compatibility is not guaranteed. In order to fully use all the functions of the application and to understand them correctly, please first carefully study the user manual.

 Wi-Fi network Requirements

  • 2.4 GHz (with sufficient coverage of the monitored area)
  • WPA1 or WPA2 security (WPA2 recommended)
  • The device can only be paired and used on one Wifi network (SSID) at a time.
  • If you are not sure whether your router meets the above requirements, contact your network administrator.

Can the baby monitor work without the app?

No, the baby monitor is definitely only for use with the ETA SMART app, which offers various settings and options for monitoring your child.

Pairing the Baby Monitor

You can pair the baby monitor using one of two methods:

1) QR Code - the safest method, in which it is necessary to show the baby monitor the generated QR code from the application.

2) Automatic the fastest method - automatically searches for a nearby baby monitor that is in pairing mode and connects to it.

To pair the baby monitor with a WIFI network for the first time, follow the instructions and individual steps in the application - a detailed application manual is also available in the Downloads section.

The basic requirement is:

  • active home WIFI (2.4 / 5 GHz) network with a sufficiently strong signal (this will vary depending on the model owned);
  • smart device with the ETA SMART application installed;
  • Turn on the baby monitor, launch the application and follow the instructions to set up a user account and perform the pairing itself.

How can I ensure successful pairing?

  • Only use smart devices with supported versions of the Android and IOS operating systems.
  • Use a quality WIFI router that will securely cover your home (or the specific location of the baby monitor) with a sufficiently strong signal.

If you are having trouble pairing, check the following:

  • Ensure that the monitor is within the Wi-Fi signal range;
  • The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) should contain only letters (a-z) and numbers (0-9), without special characters like "_", "-", "*", "@", "+", or spaces;
  • If your router supports dual-band operation, we recommend disabling the 5 GHz band during pairing (you can re-enable it after);
  • Turn off VPNs or firewalls on your phone, as they can interfere with communication between the monitor and your phone;
  • Try using a different phone to rule out issues with the device you're currently using;
  • If necessary, create a new account to rule out account activation issues;
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network and smartphone meet the app’s requirements;
  • Make sure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you intend to pair the monitor with;
  • Try restarting your Wi-Fi router;
  • If the reset button isn’t working, remove the SD card (if present) and try again;
  • If one pairing method fails, try the other.

To control the baby monitor with multiple users, proceed as follows:

  • Each user must create their own account in the ETA SMART app;
  • the user who first paired their mobile phone with the baby monitor is the administrator and has the option to set up sharing with other users;
  • the administrator with an already paired baby monitor must proceed as follows - click MORE in the application (the "..." symbol on the main screen at the top right) / DEVICE SHARING / ETA SMART ACCOUNT. Then fill in the "Account" field (email of the sharing account).

Tips and Troubleshooting

The application is stuck or "freezing".

Restart the application and if that doesn't help, restart the baby monitor and router. The lag can be caused by various reasons - most often it can be the internet connection itself. Also try temporarily changing the transmission quality from HD to SD.

Motion notification is triggered even though there is no movement in the room

In some cases, even minor changes in the environment, such as shadows, reflections of passing cars on the street, etc., can trigger notifications. You can set the sensitivity for motion detection in the application, try setting a lower sensitivity, or slightly change the default position of the camera's view from places where the above-mentioned environmental changes occur. Tip : If you are using an SD card, set event-based recording and have motion detection active. Later, you can play back specific sections and investigate what triggered the detection. Tip: If you have an SD card installed, set it to record based on events and keep motion detection active, so you can later review what triggered the alert.

The application is not responding to anything, even though it has always worked properly. How to solve this problem?

The situation is probably caused by some change that has occurred on your phone (e.g. installation of additional applications, system update, etc.) or on the WIFI network. If you cannot resolve the problem by reverting the changes on your phone or WIFI network, uninstall and reinstall the ETA SMART application.

More advice and tips

  • Set a strong password for your Wi-Fi network to prevent unauthorized access. A strong password should be at least 8 characters long and include uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers. Avoid using special characters like "~!@#$%^*-", as they might prevent the monitor from pairing;
  • A red icon on the main screen means a function is active;
  • The monitor can also be used to monitor pets or as part of home security, but it is intended for indoor use only;
  • If you experience interference or weak signal issues, restart both the app and the monitor, and ensure the monitor is placed in an area with a strong Wi-Fi signal;
  • Position the camera to cover the entire area where your baby will be;
  • Adjust motion detection sensitivity based on the size of the room;
  • Ensure that notifications are allowed on your phone to avoid missing important alerts;
  • Regularly clean the camera lens for the clearest picture;
  • Place the monitor out of reach of children;
  • Enable human body detection for focused monitoring;
  • Use motion tracking for larger areas;
  • Set the camera to focus on specific zones to avoid false alarms;
  • Protect the camera from direct sunlight to avoid image distortion;
  • If you don’t want the camera to record, make sure the privacy mode is activated;
  • Make sure the monitor is securely mounted and not at risk of falling;
  • If notifications are delayed, check your internet connection settings;
  • Ensure there’s enough storage on your mobile device for backup recordings;
  • If you pass the monitor to another person along with an SD card containing recordings, format the SD card first to delete all data. Otherwise, the data will remain accessible to future owners.
